Title: Machine Equipment Specialist Consultant (China-Based)
Location: Remote (China-based, with coordination to USA site)
Engagement: Independent Consultant (Hourly Rate)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Machine Equipment Specialist Consultant based in China to support procurement efforts for our U.S. facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of vendor relationships, knowledge of processing technologies for plastics, fiber, paperboard, food, and proven expertise in sourcing lab and production-scale equipment such as injection molders, extruders, thermoformers, ovens, humidity chambers, molds, blenders, and mixers. This role requires strong familiarity with plastics and fiber/food processing as well as an understanding of U.S. compliance and service requirements.
Responsibilities:
● Identify, evaluate, and recommend suitable equipment vendors in China
for processing starches, fiber, plastics, and food such as injection molders,
extruders, blow molders, thermoformers and support equipment such as calendaring systems, ovens, mixers, blenders, etc.
● Provide technical guidance on equipment specifications and process requirements, with emphasis on starches, fiber, or other filler processing.
● Source both laboratory-scale and production-scale equipment assessing vendors for function, quality, pricing, and compliance with US Standards (safety and electrical)
● Support communications and negotiations with multiple vendors and visit vendors for on-site reviews as needed.
● Provide regular reports and clear recommendations to the U.S.-based
management team.
Qualifications:
● Candidates with oral/written English proficiency preferred.
● Ability to travel to vendors within China.
● Strong experience in processing technology, with specific expertise in starches, fibers, and related applications.
● Strong experience with Chinese vendors as well as North American / European extrusion equipment.
● Proven track reecord in sourcing equipment from Chinese vendors.
● Familiarity with laboratory equipment and R&D processes
● Understanding of U.S. equipment safety and compliance requirements.
● Ability to work independently and provide reliable recommendations.
Engagement Details:
● Independent consulting role (not an employee position).
● Compensation: Hourly rate, based on experience and qualifications.
● Flexible working hours, with coordination across China and U.S. time zones.
