2)Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design, or a related field.
3)Strong hands-on prototyping, experimentation, and problem-solving capabilities.
4)Wide-ranging knowledge of materials (plastics, textiles, foams, elastomers, composites) and fabrication techniques.
5)Familiarity with advanced and emerging manufacturing processes (e.g. additive manufacturing, lamination, overmoulding, welding, smart materials, etc.).
6)Excellent 3D CAD skills (e.g. SolidWorks, NX, Rhino) and ability to translate ideas into buildable designs.
7)Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative R&D environments.
8)Strong communication and documentation skills.
9)Creative mindset, driven by curiosity, technical experimentation, and future-thinking.
PREFERRED:
1)Experience working with or developing hybrid soft goods or electronics-integrated products.
2)Previous exposure to innovation roadmapping and technology scouting.
3)Familiarity with proof-of-concept validation tools and lab testing methodologies.
Responsibilities:
1)Lead development of roadmap projects from conceptual design to functional proof-of-concept prototypes.
2)Collaborate with industrial design, product development, and manufacturing teams to translate creative ideas into testable samples.
3)Evaluate and select appropriate materials, processes, and construction methods for early builds.
4)Integrate new technologies, processes, and materials into functional samples to demonstrate capability and innovation.
5)Create and test prototypes that showcase product feasibility, function, and performance.
6)Document design intent, technical justifications, and process selections throughout development stages.
7)Provide hands-on technical input to ensure early-stage builds align with the long-term manufacturing proposition.
8)Build a reference library of emerging technologies, processes, and materials for internal knowledge sharing.
9)Support technology roadmap planning and contribute to material/process innovation strategies.
10)Facilitate technical reviews and lead discussions around DFM, proof-of-concept results, and next-step validation.
