Recruitment and Conversion Executive –– Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) Location City: Wuhan Contract Duration: One year fixed term (There will be a possibility to extend the contract) Package: RMB 10,000 – 11,000 University and role introduction Manchester Metropolitan University is home to a diverse international student population from more than 130 countries. Principal Accountabilities * Improve conversion rates across the student journey from enquiry to application to enrolment. Provide personalised communications and support to enhance recruitment in the China market, this will include the delivery of key performance indicators * Represent the university at external recruitment events in a professional manner and providing specialist advice and guidance to prospective international students, parents and their advisors on all aspects of studying at the university through a variety of communication methods * Support the Regional Development Manager (UK based) to develop and achieve internationalisation strategies for student recruitment and conversion Key Tasks Enquiry Management and Conversion * Develop and implement annual multi-channel conversion plans tailored to a Chinese student audience. Ensure that applicants receive timely region-specific and engaging responses as well as pro-active outreach via e-mail, WeChat and other digital tools to maximise engagement and conversion * Respond to individual queries from students and wider range of stakeholders via e-mail and social media, providing specialist advice and guidance. Feedback trends and commonly asked questions based on communications * Deliver personalised follow-up communication campaigns for enquirers, applicants and offer holders, utilising a range of communication methods – telephone, e-mail, social media etc. to an agreed timescale, maximising the opportunity to convert * Work closely with the Regional Development Manager to develop and implement a consistent procedure for pre and post event follow up, including management of the university’s data capture tool (Gecko) and management of China specific data capture forms * Maintain records of student enquiries and associated documentation to ensure efficient responses and timely follow up in line with university policies on data protection, information security and record management (including receiving, creating, using, storing and destroying data) * Collaborate with the China Marketing Officer (China based) to develop activities which appropriately showcase the student and alumni voice, including student blogs, livestreams and social media * Collaborate with admissions teams to expedite the resolution of admissions queries. Regular follow up with applicants at Additional Information Request stage to minimise offer issuing delays * Contact applicants who withdraw or decline offers to better understand their decision-making and inform future activities. Where appropriate, provide additional support or information that may encourage students to reconsider * Deliver monthly livestreams targeting prospective students and their parents. Engage academic staff, students and alumni as guest speakers, develop engaging content and monitor audience engagement and feedback. Post-event, analyse metrics to inform future planning. Follow-up with attendees promptly providing tailored information * Co-ordinate and deliver in person and virtual pre-departure events for offer-holders across key cities. Encourage alumni and current student participation to share insights and engage student voice. Ensure event is informative and supportive in preparing students for transition to the UK. Collect feedback to evaluate event feedback and identify improvements * Report on KPIS, tracking conversion rates, engagement, visa success rates, and market trends, while providing actionable insights and recommendations to enhance the student recruitment pipeline and maximise international enrolments Student Recruitment * Contribute to the achievement of challenging international recruitment targets across China, implementing a portfolio of promotional activities as agreed with the Regional Development Manager in Manchester * Enhance relationships with established and potential recruitment partners, such as education agents. This will include monitoring performance and making recommendations for enhancing the relationship * Establish and manage strong network of international schools to support UG recruitment. Including identifying key partners, initiating and nurturing relationships with counsellors and admissions staff, arranging regular visits and virtual engagement sessions and ensuring ongoing communication and support * Represent the university at external recruitment events in a professional manner and providing specialist advice and guidance to prospective international students, parents and their advisors on all aspects of studying at the university. This may also include supporting delegations of academic staff to visit local partners * Report on student, agent and partner needs and provide qualitative feedback on issues such as service, delivery and reputation; and identify and recommend appropriate actions to resolve issues General * Support China Marketing Officer monitor university media outputs (newsletters, social media accounts, websites) for potentially market relevant stories for Chinese platforms to maximise visibility and engagement * During periods of absence from the China Marketing Office, post content to social media and offer additional support for marketing projects to ensure continuity * Maintain contact with students to support with future marketing activities and alumni pipeline, providing support for events * Develop an understanding of direct competitors and conduct research and analysis to monitor trends in course demand, branding and market strategies across the sector (in the UK and other popular student destinations) * Although staff will have core responsibilities, you may be asked to support with additional tasks or emerging projects based on institutional priorities Special Feature * This role requires candidates to have high fluency in English and Mandarin (both written and verbal) * The post holder will be required to undertake regular recruitment and conversion visits across China and must be prepared to travel on a regular basis, which will include undertaking out-of-hours and weekend work regularly * Periodic visits to the university campus in Manchester for training will be required Job Requirements Skills & Abilities * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in Chinese and English (Essential) * Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure (Essential) * Strong interpersonal attributes, good team player and attention to detail (Essential) * Ability to identify stakeholder requirements, trends and changes in circumstances (Essential) General & Specialist Knowledge * Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to an advanced level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) (Essential) * Demonstrable understanding of the importance of customer service in driving satisfaction, engagement, and conversion outcomes (Essential) * Knowledge and experience of international education and international student recruitment (Essential) * Previous experience of supporting agents or school counsellors with overseas application and recruitment processes (Essential) * Previous planning and development of student activities designed to support conversion activity (Desirable) Education & Training * Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience (Essential) * International education background (Desirable) * Strong English and native/fluent level Mandarin (Essential) Relevant Experience * Experience of working in a multi-functional administrative role, preferably in a complex, large organization (Desirable) * Experience in a customer service /student facing role, demonstrating a strong understanding of and commitment to customer services (Essential) * Experience of working within an international student recruitment environment (Essential) Special Requirements * Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with remote teams (Essential) The job holder will report to and be supported by Regional Development Manager (UK Office). MMU offers a competitive package which includes basic gross salary, social insurance, housing fund, annual physical exams and generous leave entitlement. The gross monthly package for this position is RMB 10,000 - RMB 11,000 with annual pro rata leave entitlement of 21-days for Chinese nationals.
